60 Squadron from RAF Shawbury in Shropshire will be taking on the challenge of getting a brightly coloured old banger from Staples to Naples in September, all for County Air Ambulance.

The rally takes place over the weekend of the 19th to 22nd September and covers a distance of at least 1400 miles, Although it's called Staples to Naples, the rally actually starts in Calais (France) and finishes in Naples, Italy with around 130 teams competing.

The teams have to adhere to strict rules which include that the entered car cannot be worth more than £100, must be older than 1995, but must still be taxed, have a current MOT, insured and roadworthy.

The teams are set various challenges to complete over the four days, not least of which will be negotiating tricky Alpine passes in very old cars, and making it intact to Naples.

There is a final prize of £1000 awarded to the team that gains the most points from the various challenges set. If successful the teams also plan to donate this to the chosen charity.
